I have been following the AMT since 2004 and every year the legislators, both parties, promise to act and as you have documented they are still nowhere near acting.

The struggle of the AMT is an example of the incompetence of the pols on both sides.

The AMT itself is an example of pols using taxes as a means of waging class warfare. It should also be a warning for how often taxes morph into something totally different than their original purpose.

I hope that the folks are aware of politicians that use taxes as a means of waging class warfare and the dangers involved.

Here is how I analyzed it...

I've found that Yahoo's Tax Portal is pretty good. It can be found at http://finance.yahoo.com/taxes.

There are also a lot of tax blogging sites, like http://blogs.wsj.com/tax/... but they're typically not updated much out of tax season.

I plan to provide more tax news on this blog in the future, so feel free to subscribe to the blog by clicking on the RSS link on the top right of the page.

Hope this helps!

Well, that makes me feel a little better... sounds like I'm not the only procrastinator out there when it comes to filing taxes. They alway say 2 things in life are certain: death and taxes, so why not extend what you can :)

It is pure laziness for me. No matter how hard I try, I can never get it done on time. I always have to file an extension at the last minute. I wish I could do better, but I refuse to pay for someone to do the taxes for me. It's too expensive.

I am probably the worst procrastinator in the history of taxes. My wife and I fight over taxes every year and I end up having the responsibility to get them done. I just hate doing them, so I always file an extension.

I file an extension because my job is crazy come every April. I never get things done early, so the extension gives me a chance to do my work and then worry about it later.
